These three models represent two different buying decisions. The Waterpik WP-660 and Philips HX3711/20 are countertop systems built around capacity and adjustment. The Waterpik WP-580 is a cordless system built around storage, shower use, and travel.
We have not performed hands-on testing of these units. This comparison uses current manufacturer specifications and separates published facts from our fit-based interpretation.
The fast decision
Choose the WP-660 when you want a conventional countertop setup, fine pressure control, a long published session capacity, and a broad included tip set. Waterpik lists 10 settings, seven tips, a timer and pacer, 90 or more seconds of capacity, and a three-year limited warranty.
Choose the WP-580 when permanent counter space and outlet access are the bigger problems. Waterpik lists three settings, four tips, up to 45 seconds of capacity, shower use, global-voltage compatibility, travel accessories, and a two-year limited warranty.
Choose the Philips HX3711/20 when you want a countertop tank with guided modes and its Quad Stream nozzle system. Philips lists two modes, 10 intensities, a 550 ml tank, two included nozzles, and a two-year warranty.
Compare the friction, not the feature count
The WP-660 asks for permanent counter space, a safe cord route, and a North American 120V/60Hz outlet. In return, it offers a 651 ml reservoir, 10 settings, and a separate handle that keeps the water tank off your wrist.
The WP-580 puts the tank and motor in one handheld body. That removes the countertop base and cord during use, but its 207 ml reservoir may require a refill for a slower routine. The magnetic USB-A cable does not include a wall adapter.
The Philips model is another permanent countertop choice. Its 550 ml tank is smaller than the WP-660's published 651 ml capacity, but Philips describes it as sufficient for more than one session. Actual use depends on setting and technique.
- Most adjustment: WP-660 and Philips HX3711/20, each with 10 published levels.
- Most portable: WP-580, with rechargeable power, shower use, and travel accessories.
- Longest warranty in this group: WP-660 at three years; the other two publish two years.
Match each model to a real routine
The WP-660 fits a stable one-bathroom routine where refill avoidance and control matter more than travel. The WP-580 fits a small bathroom, shared sink, shower routine, or frequent travel pattern where storage is the main constraint.
The Philips model fits someone who wants a countertop unit and specifically values its guided Clean and Deep Clean modes or Quad Stream nozzle design. Replacement-nozzle availability should be checked before purchase, just as replacement-tip availability should be checked for Waterpik.
- Measure the storage area before comparing marketing claims.
- Decide whether refilling, charging, or managing a cord is the least objectionable compromise.
- Confirm the exact model number, seller, return window, and included accessories.
What this comparison cannot decide
Published specifications do not establish comfort, noise in your bathroom, durability, or clinical results for an individual. Manufacturer efficacy percentages depend on the exact study, product, technique, comparison, and outcome.
The ADA's category-wide evidence summary describes oral-irrigator evidence as limited and inconsistent. Ask a dental professional which interdental-cleaning method and tip suit your dental work and health needs.
